Return to Work
WHS return to work is the process of helping an employee who has been injured or has developed an illness to return to work as safely and quickly as possible. This involves providing support and rehabilitation services to help the employee recover and resume their work duties.
The following are the common steps involved in the WHS return to work process:
Notify the employer: The employee should notify their employer as soon as possible after an injury or illness has occurred. This will enable the employer to initiate the return to work process.
Medical assessment: The employee will undergo a medical assessment to determine their current health status, their ability to perform their work duties, and any restrictions that may need to be put in place.
Rehabilitation: The employee will receive rehabilitation services to help them recover from their injury or illness. This may include physical therapy, counselling, or vocational training.
Return to work plan: A return to work plan will be developed that outlines the employee's work duties, any restrictions or accommodations that are needed, and a timeline for the employee's return to work.
Monitor progress: The employee's progress will be monitored to ensure that they are recovering as expected and that they are able to perform their work duties safely.
By implementing an effective WHS return to work process, organizations can help their employees recover from injuries or illnesses and return to work as soon as possible while ensuring their safety and well-being.
